In the Spring of 2013 Orange Drive Hostel was the filming location for a comedy pilot titled, “Checked Out” about two odd- couple cousins (Sean Clements and Dominic Dierkes-who are story editors on Workaholics and have written and performed together in UCB improv comedy troupes) trying to manage a youth hostel, without knowing anything about hostels, youth, or management.
The location is actually suppose to be a youth hostel located in New England, but just as the show “Friends” was suppose to be located in NYC it was all actually filmed in LA.
Hollywood set magic can bring the world to LA, so location scouts chose our hostel home to reflect the beautiful, historic architecture, one could find on the East Coast.
The production was shot at the hostel over a two day period.
Comedy Central has recently pickuped “Checked Out” which was written by Workaholics co-executive producer Craig DiGregorio. It will be directed by Matt Villines and Oz Rodriguez (Saturday Night Live)
The show also stars Billy Zane, who will be reprising his role in the comedy!
There are rumors that the show could come back to the hostel and film again!
Orange Drive Hostel isn’t just in the heart of Hollywood we are part of the entertainment industry, dating back to the 1950’s when stars like Marilyn Monroe, Gary Cooper, Rita Hayworth and many others stayed at the Orange Drive Hostel, then known as Orange Drive Manor, which served as a guest home for many up and coming artists.
